SPARKLE CHARITY FOUNDATION
Reference No. # 91/17623
Sparkle Charity Foundation is a charitable organization registered under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance. Its mission is to promote the development of Hong Kong's cultural and creative arts, advance Hong Kong's unique cultural heritage, and support youth and disadvantaged groups. The foundation is dedicated to connecting professionals, celebrities, businesses, and organizations from different sectors of society, organizing various exchange activities, sharing sessions, and cultural and artistic workshops to promote Chinese and Hong Kong local art, design, and culture in an innovative, vibrant, and practical manner.
To promote and celebrate the cheongsam, listed as a "National Intangible Cultural Heritage" and a "Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage," as well as the elegant Tang suit, Sparkle Charity Foundation has specially planned and sponsored the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to hold the "NEXT IN CHINESE STYLE (NICS) - Young Designer Challenge." As the foundation's annual flagship event, it invites current and former students and graduates of HKDI's Fashion Image Design programs to create and shape the future styles of cheongsams and Tang suits under the theme of "Future Chinese Clothing."
In addition to inviting Master Fung Yau Choi, the president of the Hong Kong Cheongsams Association and a great master of Shanghai style qipao, to personally teach the techniques of making cheongsams, this event also invited celebrities from the political and business circles, cross-disciplinary designers, and professionals to serve as judges. The event bring together three generations of people to promote the revival of the classic cheongsams and Tang suits, while also cultivating and encouraging a new generation of young designers to join the ranks of cheongsam and Tang suit designers.
To cultivate and encourage a new generation of young designers to engage in the design of cheongsams and Tang suits, the Sparkle Charity Foundation has established the "NICS" Fashion Design Scholarship Program to sponsor scholarships for finalists and semi-finalists, thereby supporting the development of a new generation of young designers and encouraging their growth in the field of cheongsams and Tang suits.
