The 5th edition of "NEXT IN CHINESE STYLE" is hosted by the Sparkle Charity Foundation and SPARKLE COLLECTION, co-organized by the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), and sponsored by German Pool.

To promote and celebrate Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage—the art of Hong Kong Chinese cheongsam—this competition was themed "Next in Chinese Style (NICS) – Casual Wear – Beautiful HK Series," inviting participants to create a set of "Casual Wear Future Chinese Clothing" that could be worn daily, with a creative concept that combined Chinese and Western elements, thus making traditional Chinese clothing more suitable for everyday wear.

This competition invited current and former students of the HKDI Department of Fashion Image Design to use the "Sunset and Sunrise" printed fabric provided by the organizers to create a future style of cheongsams and Tang suits by incorporating elements of fashionable Chinese-style cheongsams and Tang suits, as well as denim and knitwear, using a fusion of East and West and the concept of upcycling. Participants who advanced to the semi-finals were selected to perform on the stage of Sparkle Collection's annual new product launch fashion show.
