NEXT IN CHINESE STYLE (NICS) – YOUNG DESIGNER CHALLENGE 2025

| SPARKLE CHARITY FOUNDATION x HKDI |

The 6th edition of "NEXT IN CHINESE STYLE" was hosted by the Sparkle Charity Foundation and SPARKLE COLLECTION, co-organized by the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), and sponsored by German Pool.

To promote and celebrate Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage—the art of Hong Kong Chinese cheongsam—this competition was themed “Casual Wear – HK Swinging 60's,” inviting participants to create a set of "Casual Wear Future Chinese Clothing" that could be worn daily and blends Chinese and Western elements, making traditional Chinese clothing more suitable for everyday wear.

This competition invited current and former students of the HKDI Department of Fashion Image Design to use the neon-colored【Gas Pump/Road Sign】signature pattern cotton fabric provided by the organizers. They combined elements of fashionable Chinese-style cheongsams, Tang suits, and denim to create a fusion of East and West, shaping the future of cheongsams and Tang suits. Participants who advanced to the semi-finals were selected to walk the runway at Sparkle Collection's annual new product launch fashion show.

The awardees of 2025's "NEXT IN CHINESE STYLE (NICS)" received unanimous praise and favor from professional judges. The awardees included:
